QuickBooks vs Fina
QuickBooks Online against Fina for a one-person business. Prices from each vendor's site, checked Oct 21, 2026. Fina's Business price is unconfirmed.
A figure marked as our estimate, or as our calculation, is ours. It is not a vendor promise. A price we could not read on the vendor's site is marked price unconfirmed.
Who should pick which
Your books already live in QuickBooks, and an accountant uses them
SKIP Stay with QuickBooks. Skip the switch.
Moving a year of invoices, bank rules, and tax mappings is the expensive part. Our estimate: a weekend if the file is simple, and longer if you have payroll, inventory, or sales tax in more than one state. That weekend is our estimate, not a QuickBooks quote. Their own “about five minutes” line is for getting started once a bank or card is synced. It is not a time for moving old books.
You are opening a new, very simple business
TRY Try Fina only after the Business price is on the screen.
Fina's Business docs, read Oct 21, 2026, describe invoices, double-entry bookkeeping, customer balances, and financial statements in one place. The changelog entry dated 10-19-2026 adds recurring invoices. None of those pages showed a Business price. Do not connect a bank, and do not import a year of history, until you see that price in the app. Do not treat the personal Essential price as the business price. We are not calling Fina cheaper.

SKIP Skip the switch, and skip a ledger you have not priced.
A lower number you have not read on the vendor's price page is not a saving. The closest published verdict in this job is YourAILedger, a SKIP in issue 1.
Comparison
| QuickBooks Online | Fina | |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Invoices, bank feed, and books an accountant can open. | Business money, invoices, and double-entry books in one app. That is Fina's own description of the Business tier. |
| Price as listed | Free $0/month: 1 user, no accountant access, up to 2 invoices a month unless you qualify for and turn on QuickBooks Payments, 1 bank. Simple Start: list $38/month, shown at $19/month, and the card says 50% off for 3 months, with access for 2 accountants. Essentials: list $85/month, shown at $42.50/month. Plus (the card headed “Scale with personalized insights”): list $140/month, shown at $70/month. Advanced: list $340/month, shown at $170/month, 25 users. How long the lower price lasts on Essentials, Plus, and Advanced was not printed on those cards. That duration is price unconfirmed. | Business price: unconfirmed. The public pricing page did not show a Business dollar amount on Oct 21, 2026. The page code includes an unlabeled offer price. It is not named as the Business plan, so we are not using it. Fina's changelog, read the same day, still shows an 08-06-2025 note that the Essential price increased to $7/month or $66/year. That note is not the Business tier. |
| Who it's for | A business whose accountant or bookkeeper already works in QuickBooks, or a very small business that fits the free-plan limits. | A new or very simple business that will read the Business price in the app before connecting a bank. |
| Lock-in | You can cancel, according to QuickBooks. The practical lock-in is a year of history plus the person who already closes your books. | A bank connection shares data with the aggregator Fina's changelog names (Plaid). An export you can leave with was not confirmed. |

Privacy and lock-in
QuickBooks Online is Intuit's cloud. Your books, bank feed, and customer invoices sit there. The pricing FAQ says you can switch plans or cancel at any time. Cancellation does not rebuild the file in another product. That rebuild is the lock-in that matters more than the monthly price.
Fina's changelog describes Plaid as a bank aggregator, and it has mentioned work on a second aggregator. Connecting a bank hands transaction data to that chain. Do it only after the Business price is visible. We did not confirm a clean export on Oct 21, 2026, so do not assume you can leave with a tidy file.

FAQ
Is Fina cheaper than QuickBooks?
We don't know. Fina's Business price was not on its public pricing page on Oct 21, 2026. QuickBooks Simple Start was listed at $38/month and shown at $19/month, with that card saying 50% off for 3 months. A personal Essential price of $7/month or $66/year, from Fina's changelog, is not the Business plan. Do not switch to save money you have not seen on a price page.
Can I move my QuickBooks file in an afternoon?
Treat that as an estimate, and a hopeful one. QuickBooks says it takes about five minutes to get started once you sync a bank or card. That is not a quote for migrating a live file. Our estimate is a weekend for a simple file, and more time if you have payroll, inventory, or sales tax in several states.
What if I only send a couple of invoices a month?
QuickBooks Free is $0/month: 1 user, no accountant access, up to 2 invoices a month unless payments are turned on, and 1 bank. If those limits fit, you may not need a second product. Checked Oct 21, 2026.
