Privacy policy

The Solo Stack Verdict is a weekly email and this website. This page says what we collect and what we don't. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.

What we collect

If you subscribe, we collect the email address you type into the form. We use it to send the newsletter and, if you ask, to remove you from the list.

If you submit a tool for review, we collect the tool name, its website, the job it helps with, why you think it is worth reviewing, whether you are the maker, and your email address if you choose to leave one. That email is not added to the newsletter unless you also use the signup form.

We do not ask for your name, your company, or a password. We do not run advertising trackers, and this site does not set analytics cookies. The signup form does not need an account.

Page measurements

When it is turned on, the site loads Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless beacon. It counts page views. It does not use cookies and it does not build an advertising profile. If the analytics token is not set, the beacon is not loaded.

A few actions also send a small note to our own server: that a signup was submitted (not the email address), that a tool's website was clicked (the tool name and issue number), that the tool library was searched or filtered (the filters, how many letters you typed, and how many tools matched — not the words), and that a tool submission was sent (whether it worked, and whether you said you were the maker — not the email address). Those notes are stored as counts in Cloudflare Analytics Engine. If that store is not connected, the note is dropped.

Tool submissions

Submissions are stored in a Cloudflare database so we can read them when we plan an issue. If email sending is configured, we also send ourselves a copy of the submission. We don't sell that information or hand it to the company that makes the tool.

To slow down repeated form posts, we keep a short-lived count of signup and submission attempts from a connection. The count is stored under a hash. We don't put your IP address in the submission itself.

Who sends the email

The list is stored with Resend, our email provider. When you subscribe, this site's server sends your email address to Resend so you can be added to the newsletter segment. Resend processes that address to deliver the email and to handle unsubscribes.

The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most hosts, Cloudflare may keep standard connection logs, such as IP address, browser, and the page requested, to run and protect the service. We don't use those logs to build a marketing profile.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your email address.
  • We don't share it with the companies whose tools we review.
  • We don't use it for a second newsletter you didn't ask for.

How to leave or be deleted

Every issue has an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@solostackverdict.com and ask us to delete your address. We'll remove it from the Resend segment. The same address is how you ask us to delete a tool submission.

Children

This site is written for adults who run a business. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and note it in an issue. The current version is always at solostackverdict.com/privacy.
