A figure marked as our estimate, or as our calculation, is ours. It is not a vendor promise. A price we could not read on the vendor's site is marked price unconfirmed.
Who should pick which
You want a simple scheduler and a price you can read first
TRY Try Buffer. The free plan may be enough.
Start on the Free plan: up to 3 channels, and 10 scheduled posts per channel, from Buffer's own pricing page and FAQ. Move to Essentials only if you need what the paid plan adds, and only at a price you have read. On the yearly cards that price is $5/month for 1 channel, $60 billed yearly. A second channel is another channel on the bill. Our estimate to connect one account and schedule a week of posts, if the accounts are already yours: under an hour. That hour is ours, not Buffer's.
The writing editor is the job
TRY Try Typefully only after you see the price.
Typefully's homepage describes a focused editor and cross-posting to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. The pricing page did not show a dollar amount. Paid price: unconfirmed. Open the app, read the price, and leave if it is not on the screen. We are not choosing Typefully because it might be cheaper. We do not know that.

| Lock-in | The bill grows with each channel you leave connected. Posts that already went live stay on the network. | Same publishing fact. Do not connect every network until the price is on the screen. |
Checked Oct 21, 2026. Full verdict for Buffer and for Typefully: this page.
Privacy and lock-in
Both products post to the networks you connect. Those networks keep what already went live. Disconnecting the tool does not delete a published post.
Buffer's pricing FAQ says you are billed per channel, so the invoice grows with every account you leave connected. That is the lock-in that shows up on the bill. We are not quoting a Buffer privacy-policy sentence we did not rely on for this page.
For Typefully, the rule is narrower because the price is missing: do not connect every network “just to try” until the price is in front of you. We did not confirm trial terms on the pricing page.

Does annual Buffer billing save money?

The yearly cards show Essentials at $5/month ($60 billed yearly, save 2 months) and Team at $10/month ($120 billed yearly, save 2 months), each for 1 channel.
